Creating the Visual Identity of Story Hotel – JDV by Hyatt Collection

Great hospitality photography is about more than showcasing beautiful interiors, it is about capturing the personality of a brand.
Story Hotel – JDV by Hyatt is built around individuality, creativity and authentic guest experiences, where each property offers its own unique identity while remaining part of a cohesive collection.

I was commissioned to produce the complete still photography for Story Hotel – JDV by Hyatt, creating a comprehensive visual library spanning all three properties:
- Story Hotel Riddargatan in Stockholm
- Story Hotel Signalfabriken in Sundbyberg
- Story Hotel Studio Malmö.

The objective was not simply to document the hotels, but to create imagery that communicates atmosphere, design, lifestyle and the experience of staying at a Story Hotel. From thoughtfully designed guest rooms and vibrant social spaces to restaurants, bars, food & beverage, architecture and authentic lifestyle moments, every photograph was carefully crafted to strengthen the brand's visual identity.

Hospitality photography is about much more than architecture. It is about understanding how people interact with a space, how design influences emotion and how visual storytelling can inspire future guests long before they arrive. Throughout the project, every image was created to balance documentary authenticity with premium commercial photography, resulting in a timeless visual library that feels both aspirational and genuine.

Working closely with the Story Hotel team, the assignment resulted in a unified image library now used across marketing, digital platforms, social media, editorial publications and brand communications globally.
While each property has its own distinctive personality, the photography establishes a consistent visual language that strengthens the Story Hotel – JDV by Hyatt brand across multiple destinations.

For me, this project represented more than photographing three boutique hotels. It was about helping shape the visual identity of Story Hotel – JDV by Hyatt, capturing the individuality of each property while strengthening the identity of the brand as a whole through authentic, engaging hospitality photography.

Deliverables

The assignment included guest rooms, suites, restaurants, bars, public spaces, coworking areas, food & beverage photography, lifestyle imagery, architectural details and destination photography.
The final image library supports Hyatt's marketing, editorial content, social media, booking platforms and brand communications across the Story Hotel collection.
